Conchas

Concha; translates as “seashell” from Spanish, and it’s called like that because of the pattern on the topping. This traditional Mexican bread is one of the most popular, loved and bought at Mexican panaderías (bakeries). No other pan dulce is as well known as conchas. Its origin is not well known, but other cultures have very similar buns, for example, Japan’s “Melonpan”. What we know for sure, is that a day that starts with a concha can hardly go wrong.
